We hired a motorbike and did a full loop of the island which showed us some of its better features which we would otherwise have missed. We stopped at the Na Muang Falls and took a tour of the jungle on the back of a friendly 32 year old elephant who likes bananas but not sugar cane.
We found Koh Samui overdeveloped and felt the pushful promotion of goods and services a little invasive so we decided to leave two nights early for Koh Pha Ngan. On our final evening, we were totally won over by the charm of the night food market on the pier. The market was full of locals and the food was excellent and cheaper than most tourist frequented markets. We had the best springrolls at 10baht each(22ish pence) and delicious curry and rice with complementary salad and iced water for 40baht. Our best dining experience so far.
